Review AI drafts for brand voice without chasing a score

Use voice checks as review signals, then make the final decision from the words in context.

Updated August 2, 20267 minute readA score can point to a mismatch; it cannot replace a human decision about meaning, risk or taste.

Read the draft once without the score

First check whether the draft is clear, useful and true. Looking at a score too early can anchor the review on a number instead of the actual message.

Check the patterns that readers notice

Compare the draft with approved examples and look for concrete differences.

  • Sentence length and rhythm.
  • Vocabulary that feels natural for the audience.
  • Unsupported certainty, inflated language or invented detail.
  • A call to action that matches the stage of the journey.

Record the reason for an edit

A useful review note explains what changed and why. “Sounds off” is hard to reuse; “removes an absolute claim we cannot support” improves both this draft and the brief.

Approve the final text, not the score. Keep any automated check visible as supporting information rather than a guarantee.
